Balthazar's cream of mushroom soup
Miso sweet potato and broccoli bowl
















Used fresh shiitake mushrooms with 3 oz of dried mushrooms: portabellos, chantrelles, and a small amount of porcinis. They might have been too old. Only used half of the cream and substituted veggie stock instead of chicken.

Pureed using an immersion blender, and the soup's texture was neither smooth nor chunky. Wished for more whole mushrooms in the end.  It was better the next day (and I froze some too) especially garnished with goat cheese and a fresh sage leaf. Not sure I'd make this again.

There were sweet potatoes left over from the summer's CSA and some broccoli that I needed to use. I just did the veggies sans rice.
















Added more honey as well as lemon juice and zest to the dressing, but needs to be tweaked again next time -- too salty.

Week 01 #1

Chard and white bean stew



















I halved the recipe, but followed closely. I didn't have sherry vinegar so I drizzled with balsamic and parmesan. Homemade bread. Everything tastes better with a poached egg.
